It always gets rather chilly in my room when the thermometer outside falls below zero. The window and the balcony’s door are not the best when it comes to keeping the cold at bay. One time, when it was really cold outside, the window was actually frozen from the inside.
The walls are light grey, and I do find it a bit boring, but I’m too lazy to actually paint them. The furniture is mostly white, and so is the ceiling. There are only three walls because the house has a pitched roof. My room is never too tidy, unless I have just cleaned it for a special occasion. It usually remains organized for a one whole day and then turns more chaotic day by day, because I have a bad habit of not putting things back to where they belong.
In front of the only rectangle shaped wall, is a white closet with three doors and a mirror attached into the middle one. The other half of the wall is covered with posters, just so it wouldn’t look so empty (and the former owners did a really bad job with the walls in my room. They didn’t seam the drywalls underneath the wallpaper, and now there are actual holes in the wall.) There is also a white dresser with god-knows-what inside, but the most important things are placed on top of the dresser.
Another bad habit of mine is hoarding books and albums (and spending too much money on them) and they happen to take a lot of space (and they tend to gather a lot of dust!). Every single book and record has some sentimental value or at least a story behind them. Some of them are more important than others. I buy a hard copy of a CD only if I find the artist/record amazing. That is why every album is something I could play on repeat for the whole day. Some of the CDs are more special and they usually tend to be the background music to my room. If my room would suddenly burst into flames, I would probably save all my CDs and most of the books before jumping out to safety. Unfortunately there is only a limited amount of space in my room, so I have to keep some of the books and CD’s in the drawers.
In the corner, right in front of the balcony’s door, is a guitar stand with a red Fender guitar that goes out of tune very easily. I have never taken any guitar lessons, but it is great entertainment and playing is a good way to spend some time. There is also a small black guitar amp that remains un-plugged for most of the time.
The most important piece of furniture in my room is the bed. I play guitar while sitting on the bed. I listen to music while lying on the bed. I read books while lying on the bed. I surf the internet while lying on the bed. Oh, and I also sleep on the bed and it’s very comfortable. I have two pillows and they on the other hand, are very, very uncomfortable. The bed is usually never made, because I’m just too lazy to do that. Next to the bed is a small piece of plank, painted white and attached to the wall.
There is a grey desk, placed in front of the window. If you’d stare out of the window, you’d see nothing but trees, since there is a small forest right across my window. The view is not that stunning at all. I rarely use the desk and still I think that it’s annoyingly small. There is usually a bunch of papers on the desk. There is also a white iPhone dock/CD-player/radio on the desk.
When it rains, the raindrops fall heavily on the galvanized iron roof and it can be extremely loud sometimes, especially when I’m trying to sleep.
But all in all, it is a very nice room. There isn’t really that much furniture and there isn’t much colour in it. Although sometimes it might be too cold, and the raindrops are keeping me awake at night, I still like it and find it very cozy.
